Peer Review Process

Journal of Intelligent Systems and Future Computing

Journal of Intelligent Systems and Future Computing (JISFC) follows a rigorous double-anonymous peer review process to ensure the publication of high-quality, original, and technically sound research. In this system, the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review.

Step 1: Manuscript Submission

Authors submit their manuscript through the journal's online submission system, in anonymized form, along with all required statements (Conflict of Interest, Data Availability, AI Use Declaration, Ethical Approval where applicable).

Step 2: Initial Editorial Screening

The Editor-in-Chief or a designated handling editor assesses:

  • Relevance to the journal's Aims and Scope
  • Originality and technical contribution
  • Compliance with the Author Guidelines and required statements
  • Overall manuscript quality and completeness

Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected at this stage without proceeding to peer review.

Step 3: Similarity Check

Manuscripts passing initial screening are checked using iThenticate to identify potential plagiarism or improperly attributed content, per the journal's Plagiarism Policy.

Step 4: Assignment to Independent Reviewers

Manuscripts are assigned to a minimum of two independent reviewers with relevant subject-matter expertise, selected to avoid any conflict of interest. Review is conducted under a double-anonymous system to ensure impartial evaluation.

Step 5: Peer Review Evaluation

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on:

  • Originality and technical novelty
  • Methodological soundness and reproducibility
  • Significance and relevance of findings
  • Clarity, organization, and presentation
  • Ethical compliance

Reviewers provide detailed comments and recommend one of: accept without revision, accept with minor revisions, major revisions required, or reject.

Step 6: Editorial Decision

The Editor-in-Chief reviews the reviewers' comments and makes a decision. If revisions are required, the manuscript is returned to the authors with reviewer feedback, and authors must provide a point-by-point response addressing each comment.

Step 7: Final Evaluation and Acceptance

Revised manuscripts may be re-evaluated by the original reviewers or the editor directly. Once the manuscript meets all technical and editorial standards, it is formally accepted.

Step 8: Copyediting and Publication

Accepted manuscripts undergo language editing, formatting, and proofreading, with author approval of final proofs, before being published online.

Typical Timeline

The complete peer review process, from initial submission to first editorial decision, typically takes 16–18 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and manuscript complexity.
