Editorial Process

Journal of Intelligent Systems and Future Computing (JISFC) follows the process below for every manuscript, from initial submission through to publication.

Step 1: Manuscript Submission

Authors submit their manuscript through the journal's online submission system, in an anonymized format suitable for double-anonymous review, along with all required statements (Conflict of Interest, Data Availability, AI Use Declaration, and Ethical Approval where applicable).

Step 2: Initial Editorial Screening

The Editor-in-Chief (or a designated handling editor) evaluates the submission for:

  • Fit with the journal's Aims and Scope
  • Compliance with the Author Guidelines
  • Presence of all required statements
  • Basic scientific/technical soundness and completeness

Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected at this stage without proceeding to peer review.

Step 3: Similarity and Plagiarism Check

Manuscripts passing initial screening are checked using iThenticate. Manuscripts with substantial unoriginal or improperly attributed content are returned to the authors or rejected, per the journal's Plagiarism Policy.

Step 4: Reviewer Assignment

The handling editor assigns the manuscript to a minimum of two independent reviewers with relevant subject-matter expertise, selected to avoid any conflict of interest, under the journal's double-anonymous peer review model.

Step 5: Peer Review

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript for originality, technical rigor, clarity, and contribution to the field, and submit a recommendation: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject. The typical time from submission to first editorial decision is 16–18 weeks.

Step 6: Editorial Decision

The Editor-in-Chief reviews the reviewers' recommendations and reaches a decision. Authors are notified in writing, with detailed feedback. Authors who disagree with the decision may appeal, per the Complaints and Appeals Policy.

Step 7: Revision and Resubmission

Where revisions are requested, authors submit a revised manuscript along with a point-by-point response to reviewer comments. Revised manuscripts may be sent back to the original reviewers or evaluated directly by the editor, depending on the extent of the changes.

Step 8: Final Acceptance

Once the manuscript meets all scientific, technical, and ethical standards, it is formally accepted for publication.

Step 9: Copyediting and Production

Accepted manuscripts undergo language editing, formatting, and proofreading. Authors review and approve final proofs before publication.

Step 10: Publication and DOI Assignment

The final article is published online, assigned a DOI, and made freely available under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), consistent with the journal's Open Access Policy.

Step 11: Post-Publication

Published articles are digitally preserved via the PKP Preservation Network. Any subsequently identified errors or ethical concerns are handled under the journal's Retraction and Correction Policy.
