Conflict of Interest Policy
Journal of Intelligent Systems and Future Computing (JISFC) requires full transparency regarding any conflicts of interest that could influence, or appear to influence, the research, review, or editorial process.
Definition
A conflict of interest exists when an individual's personal, financial, professional, or other private interests diverge from their responsibilities in the research, review, or publication process, such that a reasonable observer might question whether their judgment was influenced by those competing interests.
Author Disclosure
Authors must disclose, at the time of submission, any financial, personal, or professional relationships that could be perceived to influence their research or its interpretation, including but not limited to:
- Funding sources for the research described in the manuscript
- Employment, consultancy, or financial relationships with organizations that have a commercial interest in the subject matter
- Personal or professional relationships with individuals who could be perceived to benefit from, or be disadvantaged by, publication of the work
Disclosures must be included in a dedicated "Conflict of Interest" or "Competing Interests" statement in the manuscript. Where no conflict exists, authors must explicitly state this (e.g., "The authors declare no conflict of interest").
Reviewer Disclosure
Reviewers must disclose any conflict of interest — including but not limited to a close professional, personal, or financial relationship with the author(s), a competing research interest, or prior involvement with the work — before agreeing to review a manuscript, and must decline the review where such a conflict exists.
Editor Disclosure
Editors must recuse themselves from any editorial decision-making role on manuscripts where they have a conflict of interest, including manuscripts authored or co-authored by themselves, close collaborators, or individuals from their own institution where objectivity could reasonably be questioned. Such manuscripts will be reassigned to another editor or handled by an independent guest editor.
Editorial Independence from Commercial Interests
JISFC does not charge an Article Processing Charge and does not accept advertising or sponsorship (see the journal's APC and Waiver Policy and Advertisement Policy). Editorial decisions are made solely on the basis of scientific merit and are entirely independent of any commercial or financial consideration.
Non-Compliance
Failure to disclose a relevant conflict of interest may be treated as a breach of the journal's Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement and may result in corrective action, including correction or retraction of the affected article where non-disclosure is identified after publication.
