Author Guidelines
Scope and Article Types
Before submitting, please review the journal's Aims and Scope to confirm your manuscript fits within JISFC's coverage. JISFC accepts Original Research Articles, Review Articles, Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses, Short Communications, Technical Notes, Case Studies, Perspectives, Editorials, and Letters to the Editor.
Authorship
Authorship must meet ICMJE authorship criteria: substantial contribution to the work's conception, design, analysis, or interpretation; drafting or critically revising the manuscript; final approval of the version to be published; and agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work. All listed authors must meet these criteria, and all must approve the final manuscript prior to submission. Authors are encouraged to use the CRediT taxonomy to describe individual contributions.
Manuscript Preparation
- Manuscripts must be written in clear, grammatically correct English.
- Manuscripts must be submitted in an anonymized form suitable for double-anonymous review — remove author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, and any other identifying information from the main manuscript file; this information should instead be entered separately during the online submission process.
- Register and provide an ORCID iD for the corresponding author (and other authors, where possible).
- Follow a standard structure appropriate to the article type (e.g., Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, References for original research).
Required Statements
Every submission must include:
- A Conflict of Interest / Competing Interests statement, per the journal's Conflict of Interest Policy.
- A Data Availability Statement, per the journal's Data Sharing Policy.
- A Code Availability Statement, where applicable, per the Data Sharing Policy.
- An AI Use Declaration, disclosing any generative AI tool used in preparing the manuscript, per the journal's AI Use Policy for Authors.
- An Ethical Approval and Consent statement, for manuscripts involving human participants or animal subjects, confirming appropriate ethics committee/IRB approval and informed consent.
- A Funding statement, disclosing all sources of financial support for the research.
Originality and Plagiarism
Submissions must be original and not under consideration elsewhere. All manuscripts are screened using iThenticate prior to peer review, per the journal's Plagiarism Policy.
Peer Review
All submissions undergo double-anonymous peer review by at least two independent reviewers. The typical time to first editorial decision is 16–18 weeks. See the journal's Peer Review Policy and Peer Review Process for full details.
Copyright and Licensing
There are no submission or publication fees. Upon acceptance, published articles are made available under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0); authors retain copyright, and no copyright transfer agreement is required. See the journal's Copyright and Licensing Policy for full details.
References
Authors should cite datasets, software, and prior work accurately and completely, including DOIs where available.
